The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) and NGO Training Ltd are running fox snaring courses throughout North, South and Mid-Wales in February and March.
The training, based on more than 200 man-years of GWCT science, is geared to ensuring participants are up to speed on the sensible and practical guidelines contained in the Welsh Government’s 10-page bilingual booklet Code of best practice on the use of snares in fox control, published last year.
It is essential that snare users in Wales are up to speed on the code, and implement it in any predator control work they plan to carry out in order to protect this valuable control tool; failure to do so will inevitably result in an outright ban.
The dates and locations for the fox snaring training courses are:
Lleyn Peninsula, Gwynedd – Tuesday 14 February
Ceredigion – Wednesday 15 February
Denbighshire – Tuesday 7 March
Builth Wells area, Powys – Wednesday 8 March
Vale of Glamorgan – Thursday 9 March
To book your place on a course contact Lynda Ferguson at GWCT by phone on 01425 651013 or email lferguson@gwct.org.uk
