Their wide range of accessories, for many makes of rifle includes adjustable triggers, Picatinny and Weaver rails, mounts, rings and mechanical sights. With my Steyr SSG 69 pretty much requiring expensive own-brand mounts I decided to take a look and see what sight mounting options this Croatian company could offer, off the shelf.
Converting a rifle to a Weaver or Picatinny rail opens up a number of options when it comes to mounting a scope and Rusan-Mikron offer a very large range of rails of different lengths and to suit a variety of rifles. The rail slots into the grooves on the top of the SSG smoothly and is secured with four vertical grub screws that tighten down onto the top of the receiver. The hold is surprisingly secure and there was absolutely no sign of movement under recoil. The rail is thick and heavy, making it very rigid, and although it does add weight to the gun it has a very practical and beneficial heft to it. There is very little ‘tweaking’ required when fitting the rail and there’s no lateral movement at all, which is a sign of quality.
Available with a choice of ring diameters, and in heights of 12mm, 14mm, 19mm or 24mm, this mount is secured to the rifle with two quickrelease levers that grip across the grooves on the receiver. They can also be tightened using a torque wrench via the hex-key recesses provided. The levers are easy to operate and they give a very secure hold onto the gun. The rings are a good match to the body of the scope and the tolerances that they work to are very tight, ensuring that the scope and gun are completely and securely held together. Alignment with the bore is very good, so sightingin the scope was easily achieved, well within the range of the scope adjustments. There is absolutely no ‘tinkering’ required to fit the mount and it was ready to go straight out of the box.
Both products are extremely high quality, made and finished to an exceptional standard and easily matching comparable branded products. If you are struggling to find a rail or mount for a particular gun, at an affordable price, it is definitely worthwhile contacting this company. The knowledge and friendliness of the staff is great and delivery was remarkably fast, with the products arriving the day after I spoke with them. Prices are in the dreaded euros, but even with any credit card exchange rates included they are still very competitive.
