Review: Stoirm backpacks

 Many of the Stoirm products are ideal for shooting and here we take a look at just two of the carry options they offer.

STOIRM 25L BACKPACK

This high-quality pack is well laid out with some very useful features. The main compartment has a two-way lockable zip and full clamshell opening, so you can access everything from the front, rather than just from the top of the pack. Five removable MOLLE panels sit on a large velcro panel on the back wall of the compartment and a large padded laptop compartment behind it will protect phones and other valuables. There are also two large, zipped mesh pockets within.

On the front of the pack a utility compartment houses another two zipped mesh pockets, a removable organiser panel and a key hook. Above this sits a purpose-made hard-shell eyewear case with a double zip and a soft Tricot lining. With a high degree of crush-protection, this is a very practical STOIRM BACKPACKS compartment. Elasticated mesh pockets on the sides of the pack hold items like drinks containers securely while allowing easy access. All of the internal zips are high-vis orange, which is handy when trying to find something at last light, or indeed after it.

The adjustable and well-padded shoulder straps sit comfortably and they combine with an EVA moulded back system to give a comfortable all-day carry.

The bottom of the pack is padded, to protect the contents, and the whole pack is made of very durable 1000 Denier Polyester with a PU coating to improve weather resistance and aid cleaning. Weighing just 1.4kg. This is a great general purpose pack.

STOIRM GEARSLINGER

As an alternative to a traditional backpack a single-strapped sling is a great choice for shooters because you can shoulder and fire a rifle without having to drop the pack. With the strap across your non-shooting shoulder, you can save valuable seconds and get a shot off without having to undo straps and put the pack down.

This Gearlsinger has a 12-litre capacity and the layout is similar, if a slightly scaled-down version of the 25-litre pack. The main compartment has a padded compartment for valuables, two zippered mesh pockets plus MOLLE panels on a velcro panel. The mesh pockets each have two zips, top and side, so that you can access them while wearing the sling without the contents spilling out.

There is also a hard-shell eyewear case, an admin compartment on the front and a single elasticated pocket on one side.

With the entire load being carried on the one strap it’s thankfully much wider, with a lot of padding and a detachable stabiliser strap. The nonslip back of the strap ensures it does not slide around your body and the carry is very comfortable and secure.

CONCLUSION

Whether you go large or small STOIRM have a wide variety of packs and other carry options. Quality is top-notch and the prices are pretty good too.
